What is Artful?
A manifesto for creative misfits from all walks of life
Creativity starts with curiosity — a question, then another question and another. Answering those questions lies at the center of our creativity and our craft, no matter what they are and however many of them we are passionate about. That’s what I love about where we’re going with ärtful. In this week’s solo episode, I share my manifesto for ärtful, its community, and its future.
ärtful will be THE premier place for artists to go for news and information on art and artists. It will be for artists by artists. The art of the people. Art from the streets. Art from the bedroom. Art from the warehouse. Art without borders or colors or creeds or genders or classes — online and offline. No one will ever feel like they are too weird or not cool enough to read, listen, watch, contribute, or collaborate with us at ärtful. It will be a culture akin to Burning Man that’s all year long and all over the world — available everywhere. It will be a place to play, to work, to collaborate, and to just BE. It will be the place for artists to show their work and lift each other up for it. It will be built by artists for artists. It will be a place of non-judgement, except for when an artist asks for a critique and gives their consent. It will be a place for collaboration and community building — like a camp on the playa that is built and nurtured by its people. I’ll need tons of help to do this and I know some amazing fucking people that can help me, as well as all of you that I’ll meet along the way.

[0:08] Welcome to artful, a community. Committed to championing artists and creative misfits from all walks of life. This show gives you an insiders look into the rial, scrappy lives of artists creating with purpose,
including interviews with beatboxers, graffiti writers, DJs, chefs, photographers, designers, illustrators, filmmakers, and music artists from around the globe, as well as insights and inspiration from yours truly.
I'm Gabriel if an award-winning artist, coach, entrepreneur and fellow misfit. All right, let's do this.

This is a manifesto for creative misfits from all walks of life.
[1:02] You know, creativity starts with curiosity. A question, then another question and another.
Answering those questions lies at the center of our creativity and our craft, no matter what they are.
And however many of them were passionate about.
I thrive when I have a lot of things going on and don't have the opportunity to get bored. I get bored really easily.
That's what I love about where we're going with artful now.
When I began reassessing things several weeks ago, I just got curious and let things come up for me as I began to ask question after question,
things like, What do I want to create What is enough for me?
What am I working toe earn in my life?
How can I be a creative and be fulfilled at the same time while putting food on the table?
[2:06] How can I collaborate with other creatives towards a common goal of freedom and independence?
What kind of content would I like to read? Watch and listen to if it were me?
What kind of content do I want to do? How can I best support my fellow artists?
[2:29] Who do I want to be interviewing? What do I really want to talk about with them? What do I have to say? What do I really want to talk about?
And then I started to get more specific with my questions.
[2:43] What if I produced blog's podcasts, docuseries and other content the artists and creative misfits want to read, to listen to and tow? Watch?
[2:55] What if I made artful the coolest place toe work to be interviewed to tell your story.
To connect and engage is an artist and creative weirdo.
What if I drop the facade and stopped being only part of myself and let it all hang out for the world to see the good, the bad and ugly?
What if the show became like an audio magazine? The interviewed bad ass artists from all over the world and got to the heart of who they are, what they do and why they do it.
What if people came knocking on my door to be a part of the artful crew?
What if this was the place to get the rial stories and proper interviews as an artist to see where art is going and to participate in the conversation in the community without prejudice and judgment.
What if artful was a digital magazine, Blawg podcast video channel Social Platform, an app that artist used like vice, medium screen rant and hit record,
to learn about artists, connect, share and even sell their work and services?
What if artful was a media company that covered things like art, animation, graffiti, deejaying, music, podcasting, film and TV, food, wellness, entrepreneurship, lifestyle and travel?
And, most of all, how to live your best life?
A life drawn, not traced.
[4:22] What if friends from my network and fellow artists from around the world contributed stories, submitted their work, collaborated on projects and could find clients and sell their work?
What if I rebranded the site the podcast and kept the interviews, but made them even better?
What if I made it more like a magazine-styled website? Started adding more stories and info on the blawg, started having friends contribute pieces that they want to write with the things they want to say and need to say,
no matter who they are, where they're from or what they look like?
What if they could submit art stories, interviews, short stories and poetry?
What if artful is these space where people want to share their ideas, information and interests around art and being a creative misfit?
What if I made it the community hub rather than a brick and mortar space for learning, connecting and collaborating so anyone, anywhere can be a part of it?
What if there's a member portal for artists at a low membership rate that provides a ton of value for them, as well as for cool, sustainable and open-minded businesses that have access to these top artists that are creating with purpose.
And then I started to answer these questions.

And the interesting thing was when I went through this process, I see it now. Artful.
