You are valuable (treat yourself accordingly)

Overcoming self-doubt and charging what you're worth

In this week’s solo episode, I thought I’d read one of my recent ärtful reminders that speaks to your worth, the value you bring to your clients and customers, and that you need to be asking for what you deserve as the badass creative that you are.  This topic has really resonated with people in the ärtful hangouts and masterminds I lead, so I thought it would be worth sharing on the show.

All right, let's do this.

Today’s ärtful reminder— you are valuable and need to treat yourself accordingly. One of the biggest challenges we can face as artists and creative business owners is self-doubt. Along with that comes a lack of confidence in ourselves and our worth. I hear this come up so often for people in ärtful hangouts and masterminds. So many of us as artists have not asked for what we are worth because we love what we do and would do it for free. To some, it feels like a curse and there’s no overcoming it. To others it can feel like there’s too much competition or our skills aren’t good enough or we haven’t got a good enough portfolio. There are those of us that know this is not true and are promoting a different philosophy in regard to how we show up in our business and ask for what we are worth. I believe this and have been working on implementing it in my own businesses. It feels like we need permission from someone to finally ask for what we deserve and to have a process that works for us in our creative business. I’m giving you that permission now as well as myself. There you go. Done. Now reevaluate your offerings, your packages, your products, and your process. Are you asking for what you deserve because you know that you, in fact, are valuable? Are you establishing processes that allow you to work the way you want to work with the clients you want to work with? If not, sit down and figure out what they are or could look like. Ask yourself what is enough? What would you like your business to look like so that you feel like you are valued for your work and that you can live the life you want to live as a creative solopreneur? I’ll say it again. You have my permission. I’m saying it to myself. Yes, we are fallible and can make mistakes. Yes, we might not be the best we can be in our industry — yet. But if you lead with your heart and listen to your client's needs, put in the work, and do your best, there is no reason you shouldn’t be asking for what you deserve for helping them with their hopes, dreams, and goals. You are your business and you are amazing. Keep practicing. Keep reminding yourself that you are enough. And so will I. Most of all, keep being ärtful!
